I grew up in a small town called Trinity in North Carolina. This is where I attended Wheatmore High School and discovered a passion for technology, music and art. During my time in high school, I focused much of my attention taking programming classes in order to learn basic code using Python and HTML. Over the years I have also collected drawings, paintings and glass blown objects to express my interest for art. This is part of the reason why I eventually decided to change my major to graphic design while attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Now, after changing my major once again, my long-term professional goal is to become a UX/UI designer by earning a degree in interactive multimedia. I plan to take classes and opportunities offered at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill that will help me reach this goal. I am particularly interested in how design is able to capture and hold an audience’s attention. The diverse culture that surrounds the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will help me better understand how to represent the diversity in our world, which would ultimately make me an exceptional designer. This is also the reason I hope to travel to different regions around the world.
